1956 DODGE C3-R8 TWO-TON FLATBED STAKE BED
1956 Dodge Stake bed – Previously a Firetruck
1956 Dodge Model C3-R8 Two-Ton Flatbed Stake Truck that was restored and converted from its original firetruck iteration. It runs and drives excellently. The engine is a 331-cu.in. hemi OHV V8, the engine starts with its manual choke and exhibits no smoke or leaks, per the consigner. The transmission is a non-synchromesh five-speed that must be double-clutched to shift gears.
This 1956 Dodge C3-R was reportedly used as a fire truck in Cedar Bluff, Nebraska. The truck was finished in red with a black grille, fenders, and running boards. Details include a flatbed with wooden bed slats and black stakes as well as a gray front bumper, a hood ornament, towing mirrors, grab handles, roof-mounted spotlights, turn signal indicators, and auxiliary mirrors.
Six-spoke 22.5″ steel wheels are finished in black with gray rims and are mounted with 9R22.5 Sumitomo ST727 tires up front and 10R22.5 BFGoodrich ST230 rubber out back. Howe Fire Apparatus Company was located in Anderson, IN from 1872 to 1978. Howe manufactured fire trucks and equipment for 66 years in Anderson. In 1978, the company closed the Anderson plant and moved to Roanoke, Va.
