A styling design that screamed “I dare you to” when first announced for actual production, the Plymouth Prowler was a truly unique and short-lived offering from DaimlerChrysler at the turn of the century. The 1999 Plymouth Prowler available here has been driven 47000 miles since new and features both excellent OEM conditioning Influenced by Chip Foose, spearheaded by Thomas Gale and hand-built in the same Detroit plant as the legendary Viper, this car would be the final rear-wheel drive Plymouth ever offered, and it indeed heralded the demise of that storied brand, after which the Prowler model was briefly offered under Chrysler branding.

Beneath the aluminum hood, this car hosts the 24-valve, 3.5L/253 HP SOHC V-6 engine, the installation of which here resulted in better acceleration than the brand's heavier Magnum V-8 would have given it. The 6,400 RPM mill is coupled to the factory 4-speed Autostick automatic transmission, and the car came with power steering and 4-wheel vented disc brakes.

Painted in Prowler yellow with black accents in this instance, the Prowler was actually designed with comfort in mind. The carbon-fiber modified interior of this car features the centered body-color instrument panel bezel and column-mounted tachometer, as well as keyless entry, power windows, mirrors and door locks, bucket seats trimmed in leather and air conditioning. Its AM/FM stereo with cassette player features high-fidelity sound components with the leather-wrapped steering wheel featuring backside audio system controls, and the dash features a digital odometer and full instrumentation. Of course, the open-fender front wheels, chrome exhaust exits and overall body shape harken back to Hot Rod origins, with this Prowler riding on Goodyear Eagles tires and offset 17-inch front and 20-inch rear 5-spoke chrome wheels. Less than 9,000 of these cars were built during the short five-year production era, and this gorgeous example continues to carry the torch of innovation to this day.
