1988 Pontiac Fiero GT – 5-Speed Manual, V6, Final-Year Model
1988 Pontiac Fiero GT – 5-Speed Manual, V6, Final-Year Model
This is the car the Fiero was always meant to be. A 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT, finished in Burgundy over Gray interior, equipped with the desirable 2.8L V6 and 5-speed manual transmission. As the final year of production — and the only year to receive the fully engineered suspension originally intended for the platform — the 1988 models are the ones collectors seek.
America's only mass-produced mid-engine two-seater (1984–1988), the Fiero was born from Pontiac's desire to inject sports car excitement into its lineup during the fuel-conscious 1980s. While early models used parts-bin suspension components, 1988 marked the turning point: every car finally received the proprietary suspension system designed for it from the beginning. Ironically, just as the Fiero reached its full potential, GM ended production due to declining sales — making these final-year cars especially significant.
This GT is powered by the proven 2.8L V6, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, delivering a true driver-focused experience. The mid-engine layout provides balanced handling, and this example benefits from upgraded brakes, enhancing stopping performance. Riding on 17-inch aftermarket wheels with performance tires, it has an aggressive, updated stance while retaining its unmistakable 1980s wedge styling.
Inside, the Gray interior features power windows, power locks, and a tilt steering wheel for comfort and convenience. The factory AM/FM cassette stereo completes the period-correct feel.
Collectors gravitate toward the V6-powered 1988 models for their improved suspension, rarity, and refined handling — and this GT checks all the right boxes.
